Camp Phoenix is three-day, day camp for grieving children and teens, ages 7 to 15. This program offers every child the opportunity to express his or her feelings of grief and loss in a supportive and understanding environment. In addition to traditional camp activities, including swimming, crafts and sports, children participate in group discussions and creative activities led by professional counselors and trained volunteers. Teen Phoenix
September 18 - 19, West River Center, West River, MD
Teen Phoenix offers a group experience for grieving teens ages 14 to 18, providing peer and adult support and teaching skills to help teens cope effectiviely with the intense feelings that surround the death of a loved one. Structured as a 2-day, 1-night retreat supervised by trained mental health professionals, Teen Phoenix offers an emotionally safe atmosphere in which peer groups, art therapy, memory projects, and other activities help teens confront their loss, express their grief, and receive support from other teens who are grieving. The format of this program gives teens the freedom to feel independent while addressing their grief needs in an age-appropriate and mature manner. Contact Stacey Newman for more information.
